Welcome back to the Big East Football Power Rankings. Every week the editors of SB Nation's Big East blogs will cast their vote in an attempt to measure the current state of the Big East. The results are below.

I used this space last week to point out that the Big East was boring and predict that we'd see a lot of very similar ballots for the rest of the year. Whoops.

Things got crazy ahead of schedule thanks to the rediscovered parity (read: mediocrity) in the league. Syracuse annihilated Louisville, and as a consequence knocked the Cardinals out of of the top spot, which went to Rutgers which turned itself around with a solid victory over Army.

Louisville wasn't the only team destroyed this weekend, as Cincinnati wrecked Temple as well, however the Owls actually improved their standing in the poll. Why? Because Pitt went out and lost to.... wait for it.... UConn! That loss was sad enough to drop the Panthers into our number six spot, whereas the Huskies' unexpected upset vaulted them into a tie with South Florida. Or, if you prefer (as I do), you can say that UConn's win just allowed them to drag another team down to the bottom of the barrel with them.
