Big East Football Power Rankings Week Six

Brought to you by the Big East editors of SB Nation.

Welcome back to the Big East Football Power Rankings. Every week the editors of SB Nation's Big East blogs will cast their vote in an attempt to measure the current state of the Big East. The results are below.

Good news everybody: the Big East only lost one football game this week. That's impressive, though not especially so when you consider that only four of the Big East teams played, the best Big East team beat Southern Miss by less than a touchdown and one of the wins was a closer-than-it-should-have-been escape over Buffalo. Wooo.

Our big mover this week is Cincinnati, who grabbed three first-place votes and moved into a tie for second thanks to the strength of their win over Virginia Tech. Louisville held on to the top spot for the sixth straight week, but their grip on the top spot is slipping. Both the Bearcats and Rutgers are nipping at their heels.

Pitt held steady with its bye, while the voters seemed to be undecided on which was more impressive: South Florida's loss to Florida St. or UConn's win over Buffalo (hint: it was USF's loss). Syracuse and Temple also sat this week out, and they basically held steady in the polls.

Things should get a lot more exciting next week. Big East play is starting in earnest and we'll finally have a chance to measure these teams against each other on a week-to-week basis.
