TheRoundUp 1/20: Practice facility fund gets another million dollars

Anonymous Gifts For Basketball Development Center Received - University of Connecticut Official Athletics Site
UConn's Division of Athletics is pleased to report that two additional gifts totaling $1.05 million have been received. The donors, who have asked to remain anonymous, have each pledged approximately $500,000 to the project.

Huskies Prove To Be Too Much For Bearcats, 80-37 - Hartford Courant
The Huskies put a gentle and respectful 80-37 beating on Elliott's hard-working team before a crowd of just 6,317. It was the 96th straight home victory for UConn, extending their own NCAA Division I women's record.

NCAA College Basketball Preview - Connecticut Huskies at Tennessee Volunteers - Jan 21, 2012 - CBSSports.com
Shabazz Napier, on the other hand, is looking to build on a pair of strong performances after going scoreless in a 64-57 win over West Virginia on Jan. 9. The sophomore guard has totaled 43 points and 12 assists in two games since, including a career-high 27 points Wednesday.

UConn Basketball: Big Men Played Poorly Against Cincinnati - Hartford Courant
"Andre Drummond, after three double-doubles in a row, just did not have a good game," Calhoun said on the Big East's weekly conference call Thursday. "Nor did Alex. We're still [one of the] youngest teams in the country. Although I keep telling the kids, there is no young team any longer, not with 12 games left to play. We lacked a little something that, quite frankly, Cincinnati had."

Chris Elsberry: It's time for Lamb to turn into Kemba - StamfordAdvocate
For most of the game, Lamb was invisible. He didn't score over the final 6:52 and took just two shots over the final six minutes. And while his overall numbers would have been decent any other time (14 points, eight rebounds, five assists), on this night, Lamb needed to become Kemba and electrify Gampel Pavilion with a game to remember rather than apparently just go through the motions.

UConn Football Hosts 8 Recruits This Weekend - mcall.com
Some of these players could be program-changers at best, and difference-makers at least. For example, when was the last time UConn was involved with a player who had a scholarship offer from the national champion? In addition to Alabama, Morgan, who also played quarterback, has scholarship offers from Penn State, Michigan, Miami, Maryland and Boston College.

I’d love to see his supporters from when he got fired try and defend why this money wasn’t pouring in when he was AD. That’s right RDM. I’m calling you out.
