Big East Football Power Rankings: Week 2

Welcome back to the Big East Football Power RankingsEvery week the editors of SB Nation's Big East blogs will cast their vote in an attempt to measure the current state of the Big East. The results are below.

The Big East went 8-0 on college football's first weekend, which is good news for the conference. Although everyone has an equal amount of wins, some wins are more equal than others and our voters recognized that. For instance, going into South Bend and beating a Notre Dame team that some predicted would be in the BCS is a whole heck of a lot better than beating Buffalo in a not especially impressive fashion, so South Florida was rewarded with two first-place votes and sole possession of second place behind conference leader West Virginia.

Rutgers also moved up in the world based not so much on their domination of North Carolina Central but rather Louisville's struggles against Murray St.

UConn is still last, but with a trip to Vanderbilt coming up this weekend they have an opportunity to boost themselves out of the basement, or at the very least earn a modicum of respect.

1. West Virginia (5): 54 points -- vs. Marshall W 34-13 -- Last Week: 1

2. South Florida (2): 49 points -- @ Notre Dame W 23-20 -- Last Week: T2

3. Pittsburgh: 40 points -- vs. Buffalo W 35-16 -- Last Week: T2

4. Cincinnati: 37 points -- vs. Austin Peay W 72-20 -- Last Week: 4

5. Syracuse: 26 points -- vs. Wake Forest 36-29 (OT) -- Last Week: 5

no I'm not

I just didn’t change my rankings. I don’t resume rank until teams actually have resumes, and I again don’t care at all about these rankings.
