Former UConn star Tate George charged in ponzi scheme

Stay connected for news and updates

Former UConn star Tate George was arrested today by federal officials who accuse him of running a $2 million ponzi scheme. George was the CEO of The George Group, which was purportedly a real estate development firm, but officials say that it had virtually no income generating operations. George surrendered this morning and faces up to 20 years in prison.

This is really sad news, Tate George has long been loved by UConn fans because he hit "The Shot" that propelled the Huskies past Clemson in the 1990 Sweet Sixteen. He played for the New Jersey Nets after his time at UConn.
