Get your cowering faces on, Big East: Jim Calhoun is back
When Jim Calhoun won his third national championship quite a few people (including myself) thought the odds were good that he'd hang it up and ride off into the sunset. But as the months ticked by with no announcement it started to seem more and more like the pride of Braintree, Massachusetts would be coming back after all. Well, now it's official, with UConn President Susan Herbst confirming that Jim Calhoun will coach the Huskies this year, his 26th with the porgram:
"He told me today he is staying. Obviously we're thrilled about it."
It's really not a surprise, especially with Andre Drummond and DeAndre Daniels in the fold, but it is nice to have confirmation.

30 would be a good number to retire.
"The worst thing you can do, at least this is what my friends tell me, is to come after me," Calhoun said. "I'm usually better at coming out of the corner than I am up on the pedestal. I haven't been on many pedestals, by the way. I'm a natural underdog, I guess -- sometimes for no apparent reason. And if I can't be the underdog, I'll make myself the underdog, somehow or other."
I think we should retire the name Jim.
Any future recruit must go by James.
And Omar Calhoun maybe can just go by Omar C.
See, I think just the opposite
Whoever UConn hires to replace Calhoun should be referred to only as Jim II.
Thoroughly enjoying life atop the Big East.
