Jamal Coombs-McPoordecisionmaking: sophomore forward arrested for marijuana possession

Stay connected for news and updates

UConn police arrested sophomore forward Jamal Coombs-McDaniel for possession of 5.6 grams of marijuana on campus last night. Coombs-McDaniel was also in possession of a marijuana grinder and a package of cigars that could presumably used for rolling paper.

There were two other individuals arrested with Coombs-McDaniel, Shakwaan Ishmale Simpkins and Stanley Darnel Winn, both of Boston.

Of note: last night was the first week of spring weekend so my alternate headline for this story was "BREAKING: drugs consumed on UConn campus during Spring Weekend."

Also of note: I've seen a few places on line mention the amount as 5.6 ounces instead of grams (grams seems to be what most places are reporting though). This is notable because Connecticut law breaks down marijuana possession offenses into less than and more than four ounces of marijuana, so 5.6 grams would get you a stern look and a slap on the wrist and 5.6 ounces would get you a massive pile of trouble.
