The Bet 2.0: The re-bettening
This site has grown a lot since we first moved over to SB Nation in January 2010. We had roughly four times as many visitors in January 2011 than we had last January. So my back-of-the-envelope calculations indicate that three-quarters of you were fortunate enough to not see what happened last year when UConn lost to Syracuse and I lost a bet to Hoya Suxa. As for the other quarter? I just hope you've been able to scrub the image of this from your mind(warning: Not Safe For Anyone).
But that was last year when UConn was being smothered by the mediocrity of Jerome Dyson. This year I have full faith that Kemba Walker and his ragtag band of freshmen will slay the hated Orange. In fact, I have so much faith that I have once again entered into a bet with Mr. Suxa. The terms:
- Should UConn win, Hoya Suxa will have to turn his poisonous annotating abilities on some of the best mediocre video production that Syracuse University has to offer.
- Should Syracuse win, provided the universe doesn't immediately cease to exist, we will host a "Syracuse Love Day" on this very blog next Wednesday in anticipation of Syracuse's matchup with Georgetown. It may or may not include me wearing orange facepaint. Hopefully you won't have to find out.
So please, Kemba, Alex, Jeremy or Shabazz, if you're reading, please protect my honor and win this damn game. The pain of hosting a Syracuse Love Day would be too great to bear. Go Huskies.

Speaking of betting
and it being Syracuse “Hate Week” have a look at this. Apparently, some Syracuse players have been accused of point shaving. Amazing that this news surfaced during this special week, almost makes it too easy to hate on Cuse.
"The worst thing you can do, at least this is what my friends tell me, is to come after me," Calhoun said. "I'm usually better at coming out of the corner than I am up on the pedestal. I haven't been on many pedestals, by the way. I'm a natural underdog, I guess -- sometimes for no apparent reason. And if I can't be the underdog, I'll make myself the underdog, somehow or other."
thats gotta be false
the source is a gambling site, the original tweet the story is based on has been deleted and the reporter’s twitter account has been made private, and there’s absolutely no evidence backing it up.
not to defend ’Cuse or anything (inb4 "cuse lover) but the guy who initially tweeted this will most likely lose his job AT THE VERY LEAST and could get sued since he names three players by name.
