TheOpenThread: Louisville vs. UConn
Louisville Cardinals at Connecticut Huskies, Nov 19, 2011 12:00 PM EST
So.... football. It's a thing, I guess. I know we've kind of abandoned the sport for basketball but the Huskies have somehow, someway put themselves in a position to control their destiny in the Big East. Sure they're two wins away from bowl eligibility, but three wins will guarantee them a share of the Big East title.
They're playing now, it's on SNY and ESPN3. Join us in the comments to talk about it. Go Huskies.

Oh, so we're back to the "SNY Blackout" games.
Also, does UConn really “Control their own destiny”? I guess winning out guarantees us a share of the Big East title, but we’d need WVU to lose to win the tiebreaker.
Nope
What we need is the winner of the Pitt/WVU game to lose their next game. And us to win out obviously. Then we go to the BCS with the tie breaker over Cincy. Which is crazy to think about that we only need one game to go our way.

It almost was like
he stumbled the entire way into the endzone.
"The worst thing you can do, at least this is what my friends tell me, is to come after me," Calhoun said. "I'm usually better at coming out of the corner than I am up on the pedestal. I haven't been on many pedestals, by the way. I'm a natural underdog, I guess -- sometimes for no apparent reason. And if I can't be the underdog, I'll make myself the underdog, somehow or other."

Hopefully we can score right now

Tell me again
Why we don’t keep McCummings in the game longer than one play at a time. Didn’t we learn something against Syracuse.

Although to be fair
McEntee would look a lot better right now if Moore hadn’t dropped those two passes.

That's a good point
I didn’t consider that. But it’s just frustrating to see McCummings come in and get a nice 7 yard run then head right to the bench.

I'm here
I spend an inordinate amount of time during UConn games on Chicago Transit Authority busses. What have I missed so far?
We look standard
So terrible.
Louisville returned opening kickoff for a TD. Then the Ville O gashed for a few big plays to get their TD. Isiah dropped two wide open 3rd down passes that would have gone for 1st downs. D has looked good the last two possessions though.

This team
I’ve never seen a team that deserves so little yet still manages to stay in games. I mean, it’s a crime against nature really.
Hasn't that been the status quo for CT football the last decade?

Well
Some of those other teams had bright spots, like Orlavsky, or our class of running backs, or a defense that was damn near incredible. This team seems to have none of these things, yet they stay in games.
True
Although, this defense isn’t that bad.

aaaaaannnnnnnddddd there's your ballgame
Time to start praying that Ray Reid is busy finding a way not to blow it tomorrow.
This is shaping up to be a terrible weekend for UConn
by Andrew Porter on Nov 19, 2011 2:58 PM EST up reply actions
Not to worry
3-0 UConn. Monmouth doesn’t have the horses Brown did last year, plus they played a match that went to a shootout with only a half-week rest in between. This is one of the situations where UConn’s possession game will come in handy. Spread them out, make them chase, let the ball do the work. If they lose this match, they should fire Reid on the field after the game.
This has been a stunning amount of dropped passes.

Johnny McEntee attempted 43 passes today.
Johnny. McEntee.
I’m usually one for giving coaches 3 years minimum to win, but…Coach P just seems incompetent. Like Ron Zook without the recruiting.
Holy shit
I didn’t realize he threw that many. That’s stupid.

10+ drops...
It’s not all on him.
Griffin, who is usually sure handed even let one fall.
call me at 1-800-328-7448! and really, have a NICE day!
Fully agree
Almost all were really bad drops too.
But still. It’s Johnny McEntee. I don’t think it’s a great gameplan to give the walk on trick shot QB 43 pass attempts.
