Mo Harkless update...

Apparently, Harkless almost recommitted on Saturday, per Rivals.com

"Harkless said Saturday that he had considered re-committing to UConn but decided to hold off. Huskies' assistant coach Andre LaFleur along with many other coaches were seen at the New York Panthers matchup."

It seems that, even though there are several new schools in play, Harkless could pull a C.J. Leslie and recommit to the team that he had decommitted from.

I was upset when I read about this kid opening up his recruitment again and I'd love to see him playing at UConn.  I'd have to think that we are in the lead considering there was a verbal commitment and now he's playing in CT.

What do you guys think?

I'm never going to be mad about a talented kid liking UConn

Harkless, by all accounts, can ball. I think he’s understandably scared by the potential logjam at the wing position (Roscoe, Giffey, Coombs-McDaniel, all of whom would potentially have a year or two of Big East play ahead Harkless). From our perspective, I’d love to see him push for playing time here as a freshman…the more talent, the better. But I can see why he would have to reconsider his choice.

That being said, I don’t know that South Kent being in Connecticut will have much effect on where he ends up.

The quotes from Harkless’ advisor in the Rivals story indicate to me that they are looking for something else (“UConn is still loving him but they have to bring in certain guys.”)

Gun to my head, I think Harkless heads elsewhere. That could change, but that’s my read at the moment.

Unless

it’s a mega elite prospect or someone from the same bloodline as Brandon Knight, I tend to wait until it’s official before getting excited or bummed out. Too much indecisiveness among high school kids.
