"I got an email from one of the BC assistant coaches who wasn't too happy about my commitment. He told me stuff like the UConn coaching staff isn't going to be there in January. I called up Coach Moorhead and Coach [Randy] Edsall and told them about it and asked them and they told me that was absolutely ridiculous and reassured me they'd be there.
[...]
It definitely surprised me coming from another school especially the asinine way they did it. Like I said, after talking to the coaches, I'm not really worried about it."
UConn football QB recruit (class of 2011) Michael Nebrich, to Des Conner at the Hartford Courant.
Negative recruiting happens all the time, in every major sport, so it's not surprising that Boston College would be big liars to swing a prospect from Storrs to Chestnut Hill. Still, we don't have much opportunity to mock Boston College around these parts, what with them refusing to be embarrassed by play UConn in football and all. So you gotta love BC coaches feeling a little nervous about losing recruiting battles to those nobodies in Storrs, no?

Just to pre-empt the BC fans
Yes, BC has a quarterback recruit already, and Nebrich is a two-star, as all UConn commits are required to be.
Nevertheless, you still FEAR EDSALL.

BC Fans Crying!
If you get to read the comments under DC’s story there are some very viable comments. Its very odd how DC gets so offensive when BC fans(scum) start questioning his journalism. There questions are very plausible since DC’s only source is the word of a 17 year old kid. So, even though my hatred for BC’s second rate football team to UConn and D-league basketball program runs through my veins they bring up obvious holes in this story.
They try to bash UConn again saying were a third rate football program and not in the same class as BC which we all know is there growing fear of UConn football! My only hope is UConn will soon play BC again and wipe the floor with there gay sweaters.
P.s : DC has done some good work for UConn football in the past, but im embarrased by this article and him being easily offended and his poor grammar. Common dude your journalist for a semi major paper!
I know this one
Question: Name another recruit lesser teams whined about losing out on … ?

Butthurt BC fans earn Des' wrath
http://blogs.courant.com/uconn_football/2010/07/case-closed-heres-the-email-mi.html
Des, questioned by various Chestnut Hillites, comes back with the e-mail:
Mike:
We are hosting a one-day skill clinic on July 8. Would love to see you there. I know you’re committed to UConn but You will have a new coaching staff there by next January. You have a plan for that?
Ka-boo-yah.
Now, there are some things in Des’ two blog posts that bother me as a journalist (the taunting of BC fans coming from a news reporter, the posting of Nebrich’s remarks without getting the e-mail first), but going in depth about that would lend much more weight to a story that is, basically, red meat designed to get me in a lather about BC FEARING EDSALL. So I won’t.

This Conner cat is whiny.
You can’t write this, regardless of whether it’s a comment, in a published post, or in print:
“Yeah it was only questioned by BC supporters and that’s ok. They don’t respect me and I, in turn, don’t respect them. That’s fine. Rutgers people don’t like me but they respect me because they know the work. Syracuse people crunch me for all kinds of things including living here so I get it from all sides.”
It’s is impossible to make an integrity argument and write something that incredibly stupid. This cat may have won the battle, but he’s losing the war. Everyone has their biases — and Conner has them the same as everyone else — but you can’t let them bleed into your journalistic career, whether directly or indirectly. Christ, dude; be a professional.
Conner needs to bury the message board nonsense and do his job and leave it at that.
As an aside, Conner treats this as a major scoop and honestly, it’s not all that exciting. This stuff happens all the time, probably too much. What a bunch of Shemps. If everyone wasn’t walking around with concussions, it probably all should’ve gone down like this:
#The recruit should’ve just forwarded the email to the UConn staff and let them iron it out with Boston College.
#Conner should’ve just done whatever newspaper folk do in the summer: Wait for pink slips.
