But there is a man among us, coaching a pretty big upcoming game himself, who doesn't need hyperbole to tell the story. Jeff Larson was there. Every day. He was there in 1999, a freshman when Randy Edsall was a first-year coach, when UConn vs. Oklahoma was a basketball game, only a basketball game. This was back when "BCS" meant "Boston College sucks" and nothing more in Storrs, Conn.

1. Connecticut (8-4, 5-2 Big East): To the victor goes the spoils. The Huskies did everything they had to do, won the final five games and are on the way to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. They deserve this top spot.

Through a patchwork approach, UConn does have some answers at small forward. That position has long been one for elite Huskies, from Caron Butler to Rudy Gay. Now, with Walker carrying the scoring burden from both guard positions, players on the wing simply need to fill in gaps and keep defenses honest.
