For much of the year, our motto was that this site would be your official home for UConn's "March to the Orange Bowl." Then, Michigan, Temple, Rutgers and Louisville happened. So we changed the motto and UConn suddenly got either good or lucky, depending on who you ask. You'll note that we have not changed the motto back.
Motto or not, UConn is now on the verge of clinching a BCS spot. West Virginia won earlier today so the math is simple. If UConn wins, they become Big East champions and get their tickets punched for the BCS. If UConn loses, all of that belongs to West Virginia.
UConn's had a play-in game for the BCS before. It did not end well. But that was four years ago, the freshmen on that team are now seniors, and while UConn was clearly outmatched against West Virginia then, they are clearly capable of beating South Florida.
Two final notes: First, for the superstitious among you, you'll be pleased to know that my virtual Huskies beat USF this week. It was an ugly 24-21 overtime win where the offense could get nothing going (one TD was a pick-six, another was a muffed punt that was taken to the house) and the defense blew a 14-point lead in the last five minutes. South Florida missed two field goals though, so it's a victory nonetheless.
Second, win or lose, this might be the last time we see Randy Edsall on UConn's sideline. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your open thread. Join us in the comments. Either the BCS or the Meineke Car Care Bowl awaits. Let's hope it's the former. Go Huskies!
