UConn women win 89 straight, break UCLA's record
Tonight, as they have 88 times before, UConn stepped onto the court, played 40 minutes of basketball and stepped off as victors. It's not a surprise, but it is one hell of an achievement. All credit to Geno Auriemma and his squad, especially Maya Moore, who scored a career high 41 points tonight as UConn dispatched Florida St. 93-62.
I don't know how long this streak will last, I don't even know how to adequately sum it up in words, all I know is that it is damn impressive.
Maybe Auriemma said it best after the game, "I'm not John Wooden and this isn't UCLA. This is Connecticut, and that's good enough."
