Big East Football Power Rankings Week 8

Two weeks ago I pointed out that Syracuse was second despite the fact that no one really believed they should be there. Last week I took quite a bit of joy in Syracuse's fall from grace after Pittsburgh stomped them. This week? I don't even know anymore. Syracuse beat last week's top team, West Virginia, at West Virginia. That was good enough to vault the Orange back up to second place. Do I think they'll stay there? Probably not, but they sure as hell deserve to be there.

Speaking of teams that deserve their spot, all sorts of credit goes to Pittsburgh, the new No. 1. Pitt seems like it flipped a switch for Big East play as the Panthers have now stomped both of their conference opponents. UConn, on the other hand, has done the exact opposite and more than earned their last place finish after Saturday's dreadful performance at Louisville. The Huskies are so bad that On The Banks took a break from voting USF last to punish the Huskies and Meacham asked me if it would be possible to add Army and Navy to the poll just so we could vote UConn lower than 8th.
