Around SBN: Off Tackle Empire interviews Rich Rodriguez

Countdown: 16

In order to start the transition to basketball season, we’ll be counting down the days until the first game — in classic TheUConnBlog fashion (i.e. inconsistently) – and honoring our forefathers along the way. You can check out all of the entries here.

Thanks to the contributions of Tate George, Richard Hamilton and Rashad Anderson there was a natural choice to fill the 16th spot on our countdown: the Sweet 16 and Husky heroics.

Star-divide

While some parts of the NCAA tournament (*cough* elite 8 *cough*) have always tormented the Huskies, the Sweet 16 is not one of them. UConn is 9-6 all time in the round and an extremely impressive 8-4 under Jim Calhoun.

In addition, some of the best moments in Husky history have come in the Sweet 16, courtesy of "The Shot" and UConn (the good Huskies) tormenting their Washington counterparts (the bad Huskies). The videos say more than I ever could. Check out the shot up top and the other two below. Enjoy.
