We interupt this bye week...

...to announce that for the very first time this year, all UConn fans will be able to watch the Huskies play football on television (unless you brought a cardboard frame to the Rent, a la that one episode of Family Guy.)

Unless your cable provider offers both ESPNU and ESPN360.com, you've had to rely on shady internet streams to watch the first third of UConn's season. Those days are over, mercifully.

Next week's Big East opener against 4-1 Pittsburgh will be televised nationwide on ABC at 3:30 p.m. If you live in flyover country and/or you get the Ohio State-Wisconsin game, Pitt-UConn will be shown on ESPN.

The specifics can all be found in the full press release, below the jump:

Star-divide

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut football game agaisnt Pittsburgh this Saturday, October 10 will begin at 3:30 p.m. and be televised by ABC Sports on a regional basis. That announcment was made on Saturday afternoon as the game was held for a six-day selection option. The game will be played at Heinz Field.

The other three games that will be televised in the same time slot on ABC are: Wisconsin at Ohio State, Baylor at Oklahoma and Oregon at UCLA. In markets that show the Wisconsin at Ohio State game on ABC, the UConn at Pittsbugh game will be shown on ESPN.

Following the Pittsburgh game, UConn returns home to Rentschler Field to take on Louisville on Saturday, Oct. 17 at noon. That game will be televised by the BIG EAST Network and seen locally on MyTV9-WCTX as well as SportsNet New York (SNY) from New York City, in addition to a number of other affiliates.

Doesn’t everyone get ESPNU now? I have Comcast and I don’t pay extra to get it.
