UConn-Texas sign four-game series

The Longhorns will be coming to town next season.

UConn announced that the Huskies and Texas have a signed a deal to play four games against each other over the next six years, with the first game taking place in Connecticut next year. Whether it will be at Gampel or the XL Center has yet to be decided.

The two teams will play at UConn again in the 2013-14 season, and in Texas' Erwin Center in the 2010-2011 and 2014-15 seasons.

The series will take a brief intermission in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons.

The addition of the Longhorns, currently ranked No. 7 in the AP poll and No. 8 in the ESPN/USA Today poll, will beef up a non-conference schedule that is on the light side this season. The only marquee teams on the out-of-conference docket this year are Gonzaga, a down Michigan team and a few other middle-tier D-I schools in the Paradise Jam.
