UConn activates emergency alert system.


UConn has activated its emergency alert system because of an armed robbery on Stadium Road. Students were notified of the alert, which was activated at 9:37 p.m., through text message and a banner on the UConn student homepage.

The alert said two unidentified men wearing masks "displayed a knife and demanded money from the victim" near the Shenkman Football complex.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 860-486-4800.

Storrs Campus Armed Robbery Police Seeking Perpetrators Armed with a Knife

UConn Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on 10/21/2008 at approximately 8:05p.m.on Stadium Road near the Shenkman Football complex. Perpetrators described as two males wearing dark colored shirts and masks, approximately 5’8"-5’10" tall with thin builds. The perpetrators displayed a knife and demanded money from the victim. No one was injured and the perpetrators fled the scene on foot. Police are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information please contact the UConn Police Department at 486-4800.

The community is urged to continue to walk in groups, stay in well lit areas and to report suspicious activity to the Police immediately.
